This is a cross school department which works with teachers and students in all learning areas.
Students who require support with their learning
Students are included in regular classrooms with teacher aide support if required and programmes are adapted to suit learning needs. There is a Learning Studies option course at Years 9 and 10 and Study Skills options at senior levels for students who need extra time and assistance in small groups to complete work in other subjects. Entry to these classes is decided on an individual need. There is regular liaison with parents and caregivers to ensure that students progress and reach their potential in all subject areas.
Gifted and Talented
Gifted and talented students are identified by information from parents and previous schools, test results and teacher observation. Students may be talented in one particular area or over a range of subjects. Gifted and Talented students are provided with extension opportunities both in and out of the classroom. These include external competitions, conferences, in-school interest groups and clubs, all of which provide opportunities for challenge and growth. Each learning area has a range of extension programmes for able students.
